Engineering Head

Engineering Strategy & Leadership

• Own the engineering vision, roadmap, and execution in partnership with the CTO and product leadership.
• Make sound build-versus-buy, architecture, and technology decisions that balance speed, quality, and cost.
• Translate company goals and customer needs into clear engineering priorities and delivery plans.

Build & Scale the Team

• Hire, mentor, and retain strong engineers and engineering leaders across frontend, backend, mobile, platform, and QA.
• Define team structure, ownership, and career growth paths as the organization scales.
• Build a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and speed with quality.

Architecture & Delivery

• Guide system architecture for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Establish processes for planning, code review, testing, release, and incident management.
• Stay hands-on in architecture reviews and help unblock the hardest technical problems.

Reliability, Security & Compliance

• Ensure systems meet high standards of availability, performance, and security in production.
• Partner with DevSecOps on infrastructure, security posture, and compliance requirements such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and DPDP.
• Support security reviews and due diligence from BFSI and fintech customers.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Work closely with AI, Product, and Revenue teams to deliver customer-facing capabilities.
• Represent engineering with customers, partners, and leadership, and communicate risks and trade-offs clearly.
• Manage engineering budgets, cloud and infrastructure costs, and vendor decisions.

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience in engineering leadership.
• Former Founder or CTO with experience scaling a technology company or product.
• Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams and shipping production systems.
• Experience operating in high-growth, fast-paced environments with significant ownership.

Technical Skills

• Strong engineering fundamentals across backend, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing scalable, reliable, and secure architectures.
• Understanding of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, observability, testing, and incident response.
• Comfort working with AI-powered products and teams, and with how they are built and shipped to production.

Leadership & Communication

• Strong ability to hire, mentor, and lead engineers and engineering managers.
• Clear communicator who works well with founders, executives, product leaders, and customers.
• Strong judgment and decision-making in ambiguous situations.
• High ownership, strong execution orientation, and the ability to operate at both strategic and technical depth.

Education

• Degree from a Tier 1 engineering or science institute.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following will be highly valued:

• Building or scaling B2B SaaS, fintech, or BFSI products.
• SDKs, developer platforms, or embedded product integrations.
• Building voice or conversational AI products.
• Regulated environments with security and compliance requirements.
• Fundraising, customer-facing technical leadership, or board-level reporting.
